An exorcist from the Kyoto division of the Ministry of the Environment's Supernatural Disaster Counter Measure (SDCM) department, Mikado is the eventual successor to the central house of Japan's long standing exorcist families. Born into a fate of suffering and sacrifice, when he was still struggling with his abilities, he made a fatal mistake against an evil spirit and it cost his parents their lives. For that reason, he will never show mercy to his enemies or allies. If he believes a fellow vanquisher is a weakness, he will not hesitate to eliminate them. Because of this, many outsiders consider Mikado to be unusually harsh. However, he's only doing what he must to protect both himself and other exorcists out on the battlefield.
